Exerting Oneself during the Last Ten Days of Ramazan

Print PDF
Saturday, 25 Ramadan 1431
Saturday, 04 September 2010 09:06

Aa’ishah (rz.a.) said: "When the last ten days (of Ramadaan) would come, the Prophet (salla allahu alaihi wa sallam) would spend his night in worship, wake his family (at night), exert himself and tighten his Izaar (waistcloth)." [Al-Bukhaaree (4/269) and Muslim (1174)]

This hadeeth is proof that the last ten days of Ramadaan have a special virtue over any other (set of days), in which one should increase in obedience and acts of worship, such as prayer, making dhikr (remembrance) and reciting the Qur’aan.

Aa’ishah (rz.a.) has described our Prophet and role model, Muhammad salla allahu alaihi wa sallam, with four attributes:

1. He salla allahu alaihi wa sallam would "spend his night in worship", meaning he would not sleep during it. Thus, he (saws) would remain awake throughout it in worship and he would liven his soul by spending the night in sleeplessness. This is since sleep is the brother of death. The meaning of "spend his night" is that he (saws) would spend all of it in the state of qiyaam (night prayer) and performing acts of worship that are done for the sake of Allaah, Lord of the worlds. We must remember that the last ten days of Ramadaan are fixed and numbered.

Assalamu-Alaikum

Many Muslims amongst us read the Quran. But how many of us actually understand it?The thing is that not all Muslims know Arabic so due to this we are unable to understand the Quran.

However knowing this how many of us actually bother to LEARN ARABIC?Some of us may be simply too lazy to learn this language but we should know that the Quran is the source of Guidance. How can we understand this guidance if we dont understand the language its written in?Even if we all know a few Surahs of the Quran by heart how many of us actually know the meaning of the Surahs?

Zikr gradually elevates the status

Monday, 23 Rajab 1431
Monday, 05 July 2010 14:01

Rasoolullah (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam), said, "There are many a people who do zikr of .Almighty Allah, while lying comfortably in their soft beds, and for this, they will be rewarded with the highest positions in Paradise by Almighty Lord."

Note: Generally the greater the sufferings and hardships one undergoes in the cause of religion, the higher will be his status in the Hereafter. But the zikr of Allah is such a blessed act that, even if it is done in soft beds in this world, it will bring high rewards and elevated positions in the Hereafter. Rasoolullah (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) had said, "If you keep yourselves busy in zikr all the time, the angels will shake hands with you in your beds as well as on your way."

Unnecessary obstacles to marriage

Sunday, 15 Rajab 1431

Young women have many hopes and dreams. Among the most important of these dreams focus upon their future husbands, the men who are going to be their partners through the long and arduous journey of life. Some girls want their husbands to be young and handsome. Others prefer men who are gentle and romantic. Still others want their husbands to be rich or famous.
These dreams are sometimes beset by obstacles that prevent the young woman from ever realizing them, obstacles to marriage that are uncalled for and unnecessary. Among the most important of these are the following:

1. Studies: This can take many years, depending on the program of study undertaken and the desired degree goals. In truth, a woman’s marriage is not incompatible with her furthering her studies. What it needs is for there to be an understanding from the onset between the husband and wife about the matter of her studies.
I see this as part of facing up to our changing circumstances. There are many destructive influences that beset our young men and women today. The mass media has an overwhelming effect. The world is more open. Early marriage has become more of a necessity for our young men and women than it has ever been before. It needs to be given priority. A young woman should give the matter her attention, as should her parents.

Lets answer 'missed calls'

Print PDF
Thursday, 12 Rajab 1431
Thursday, 24 June 2010 05:08

Among the marvels of modern technology is also the ability to track the missed calls which were made by our friends and foes and the likes. We do not get a good night's sleep, unless we have returned the calls of those who matter. We don't let any call go unanswered as long as we know that it matters. Don't we?

But how about the calls of "hay-yaa al-as-salaah and hay-yaa al-al falah" made from the neighborhood house of our master, the Almighty Allah.? Those calls are made five times a day and many a times they all go unanswered.
We do not either respond!!! Nor do we respect these missed calls. Do they matter?
Everybody can tell, if these really matter. May be not today nor tomorrow, but surely in the hereafter. Let us look at ourselves. Can we afford to let these calls of the muezzin be missed, day after day, after day.
The call from our cherisher, sustainer and the ultimate master. Just think about it. Next time one hears this call, just ask yourself how good a night's sleep can I have by missing those calls from the house of Allah Think about it....the answer may come from the inner heart.

If you feel this email is worth reading, please forward to your contacts/friends. Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) says: "The one who guides to good will be rewarded equally"

Vander Hoven, a psychologist from Netherlands, announced his new discovery about the effect of reading the Qur'aan and repeating the word ALLAH both on patients and on normal persons. The Dutch professor confirms his discovery with studies and research applied on many patients over a period of three years. Some of his patients were non-Muslims, others do not speak Arabic and were trained to pronounce the word 'ALLAH' clearly; the result was great, particularly on those who suffer from dejection and tension.

No mandir in ayodhya before 1900: Prof Harbans Mukhiya

By TCN News,
Rampur March 29,2010: “As a historian I want to say that there was no Mandir in Ayodhya at all. Before 19th century there was not even imagination about the Mandir there but only after that it was propagated. No historian has written that Mughal emperors used the means of conversion for extension of their government. It is totally baseless that they brought down thousands of Mandirs and forced people to accept Islam” said famous historian and former professor of Jawaharlal Nehru University, Harbans Mukhiya.

He was delivering his extension lecture today on ‘Reasons behind spread of Islam in India’ at Raza Library in Rampur, Uttar Pradesh.

My 2 Angels

Print PDF
Friday, 13 Rajab 1431
Friday, 25 June 2010 03:29

I have two angels that follow me
wherever I may go,
One of them is quick to write,
the other one is slow.
The one who is quick to write
is when I'm being good
the other doesn't like to write
even when he should!

The one who doesn't like to write
is when I am being bad
he wants to hear me say "I'm sorry"
to my mom and dad.
And when I say "I'm sorry Allah,
I won't do that again"
he rubs away my bad deed
marked against my name.

The one who is quick to write,
writes the good I try to do
even, when it doesn't work out right
he writes that one down too
so when I get to Paradise
waiting there for me
will be lots of lovely presents -
oh, how happy I will be!

Month of Rajab

Praise be to Allaah Who says (interpretation of the meaning):

“And your Lord creates whatsoever He wills and chooses” [al-Qasas 28:68]. The attribute of choosing or selecting is indicative of His Lordship and Oneness, and of the perfection of His Wisdom, Knowledge and Power.

One aspect of His choosing and preferring is the fact that He has chosen some days and months and given them preference over others. Among the months, Allaah has chosen four which He has made sacred, as He says (interpretation of the meaning):

“Verily, the number of months with Allaah is twelve months (in a year), so it was ordained by Allaah on the Day when He created the heavens and the earth; of them four are Sacred. That is the right religion, so wrong not yourselves therein…” [al-Tawbah 9:36]
